Let's Make "Little Pies"

Americans call them "turnovers" while Asian people call them "fried dumplings." No they don't, but they would if they saw how it looked like. Empanadas, or what my friend calls them "pastelitos" also known as "little pies" are easy to make and easy to eat.

Here's a list of ingredients that we used, or from what I remember. And the amount is all up to you.

Stuffing (you can add whatever you want!)
Meat:
Ground Beef
Mashed garlic
1 can of tomato sauce
Manzanilla Olives
Sofrito (she gave me her god mother's recipe, but I'll give you a food network one!)

Cheese:
American
Mozzarella

Dough:
Discos

We used the mortar and pestle to mash the garlic

Homemade sofrito

Add olives, ground meat, garlic, salt and pepper, sazon, and tomato sauce

Yunny writing down the recipe for sofrito!

Disco because it looks like a disc?

Here's the mashed garlic! This photo should be moved to the top.

Simmering! Almost done.

I went to the deli and asked for a dollar's worth of cheese. You can do that, you know!?

Preparing

We added beef and cheese as our stuffing

Place it in the middle and fold in half

Use a fork and pinch them together.

Because my forks were cheap with only 3 teeth? She had to punch twice.

Beautiful!

Their time to shine.

Tongs are extremely useful. I need to buy a pair of tongs.

Once they turn gold, take them out immediately! It's better undercooked than overcooked.
